Brave Search has introduced an AI Grounding API, designed to allow developers and organisations to connect their AI systems and applications directly to Brave Search’s index. This integration helps reduce AI hallucinations and deliver more accurate, reliable answers.
The new API offers three tiers — Free, Base AI, and Pro AI — making it accessible to a range of users. It’s aimed at those looking to enhance AI applications with verified information from the web, whether for agentic search, training foundation models, or building search-enabled tools.
State Of The Art Performance (SOTA)
Brave claims its AI Grounding API delivers leading performance in both single-search and multi-search setups, surpassing rivals in accuracy. The company says it can answer over half of all benchmark questions using just one search.
In its announcement, Brave reported that a typical single-search response takes a median of 24.2 seconds. On average, answering these questions involves running seven search queries, reviewing 210 unique pages containing around 6,257 statements or paragraphs, and completing the process in 74 seconds. The fact that many queries can be resolved with just one search highlights the quality of Brave Search’s results.
Pricing
Brave’s AI Grounding API is available in three pricing plans.
The Free AI tier allows one query per second, with a monthly limit of 5,000 queries. The Base AI plan costs $5.00 per 1,000 requests, supports up to 20 queries per second, offers a maximum of 20 million queries per month, and includes rights for use in AI applications. The Pro AI plan, priced at $9.00 per 1,000 requests, permits up to 50 queries per second, offers unlimited monthly queries, and also grants rights for integration into AI apps.
