Google has officially made Search Console platform properties available to users worldwide, completing the global rollout just three weeks after the feature was first introduced. Alongside the wider release, Google has also published a new guide explaining how creators and marketers can use the available data to better understand how their social media content performs in Google Search.

The update allows users to connect supported social media accounts directly to Search Console, providing valuable insights into how people discover content through Google rather than through the platforms themselves.

Search Data Beyond Your Website

Until now, Google Search Console has primarily focused on monitoring website performance. With platform properties, users can also track content published on supported social platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and X (formerly Twitter).

Once connected, Search Console reports the Google search queries that lead users to your social posts across Google Search, Discover and Google News. This gives creators access to search behaviour that social platforms themselves do not provide.

Unlike traditional platform analytics, which only measure activity within their own apps, Search Console now shows exactly what users searched for before clicking on your content.

A Feature That Has Now Reached Everyone

Google first introduced platform properties on 7 July, with access gradually rolling out to selected users over several weeks. Following an earlier trial in late 2025, the feature is now available worldwide.

Each connected platform includes familiar Search Console reports, including:

  • Performance reports
  • Insights reports
  • Achievement reports

These reports help users understand which content performs well in Google Search and identify opportunities to improve future posts.

New Guide Explains How to Use the Data

To accompany the rollout, Google has released guidance on making the most of the new reporting features.

One of the most useful tools is the Query Groups section within the Insights report. This highlights the search topics driving traffic to your content and categorises them into:

  • Top-performing search themes
  • Trending topics gaining popularity
  • Topics losing momentum

These insights can help creators generate new content ideas, refine captions, improve hashtags or build follow-up posts around subjects already attracting search interest.

Additional Reporting Features

Google’s guide also highlights several other ways users can analyse their performance.

The 24-hour filter makes it easier to identify sudden increases in search traffic, allowing creators to promote popular posts while interest is still growing.

Users can also export data from each connected platform and compare performance across multiple channels, making it easier to understand which content performs best on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or X.

Search Console also allows users to add annotations, making it possible to record changes such as updating a video title or editing a caption. Performance before and after the update can then be reviewed to see whether those changes improved visibility.

The comparison mode offers another useful feature by allowing different content formats to be analysed side by side, such as YouTube Shorts versus long-form videos or Instagram Reels versus standard posts.

Why This Update Matters

Social media platforms provide valuable engagement metrics, but they generally do not reveal the Google search terms users entered before finding your content.

Search Console fills that gap by showing the search queries responsible for driving traffic from Google’s platforms to your social media posts.

For content creators, marketers and businesses, this offers a much clearer picture of what audiences are actively searching for and which topics are attracting attention beyond social media algorithms.

Getting Started

Google says that accounts already verified through a claimed Search profile should automatically gain access to platform properties.

Once connected, the Insights report provides a quick overview of search trends, helping users identify which topics deserve more attention and where future content opportunities may exist.

As Google continues expanding Search Console beyond traditional websites, platform properties provide creators with another valuable tool for understanding search behaviour and making more informed content decisions across multiple channels.
